Hi all,

We held our release sync for 2.4 on 9th October 2026.
The main focus of this meeting was reviewing recently reported issues and
discussing the upcoming feature freeze.

We went through SQL-related bugs, recovery issues, native S3 filesystem
issues, and flaky tests, checking their current progress and whether
further attention is needed for the 2.4 release. Several issues already
have contributors or PRs, while others still need follow-up. We will
continue discussing whether any of these issues should be considered
release blockers and what actions are needed.

For the RocksDB benchmark regression, a potentially related commit has been
identified. The regression may be expected given the benchmark setup, but
we will follow up with the change authors to confirm.

The feature freeze is still planned for 20th October. We will send a
reminder to the dev mailing list on 13th October so that contributors have
time to raise any concerns or requests for an extension.

If you are interested in helping with any of the open issues discussed,
please feel free to comment on the relevant Jira ticket. If your feature
needs additional time before the freeze, please raise it on the dev mailing
list.

The discussed issues and follow-ups will be recorded in the release
document [1].
