Thanks for filing this jira. Since this would be an incompatible change, it is
unlikely this can be pushed to a 1.x release. I definitely think these are some
things that the interface should expose - but unfortunately does not. If
possible we can discuss supporting this only in channels that implement
BasicChannelSemantics. If this is intended for FLUME-1227, we could impose a
restriction that any channel that is used in SpillableChannel must inherit from
BasicChannelSemantics. Thoughts?
