Thrift was downgraded from 0.9 due to FLUME-1974 but now ThriftLegacy source
does not work. It throws a null pointer exception. I believe it is being
caused by THRIFT-1447

Tested on 1.4.0. Also, it is unclear how long ThriftLegacy will be supported.
