We need to verify more than the checksum, since we currently only checksum
event body. These are the steps:
1. Decrypt the buffer - failed decryption - corrupt event or bad credentials
2. Parse the protobuf - failed parsing (protobuf library throws) - corrupt event
3. Bad checksum - corrupt event.
