Keith opened an issue in the Curator project related to debugging the state of the framework during exceptions. Here is a link to that: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CURATOR-448. A quick peek shows the issue is open. There probably isn't an issue related to upgrading to the newer Curator release, although since the issue above is open it wouldn't really help all that much (and is just for debugging).
