See the discussion on this list started 6/11/2007 entitled 'rel not in DTD'.

See also the email entitled 'Required links on all ASF PMC Pages' sent by
Jim to our private list also on 06/11/2007 of which the action was due to.

Apologies that I only put it in our v20 DTD as I had thought I had only
added the rel=nofollow to v20 xdocs or I seem to remember upgrading one or
two to v20 xdoc to allow for it. Certainly they would have passed validation
at the time of doing it.

Basically the crux of it is that our thanks page amongst others was giving
higher value links to non-sponsors whereas even bronze and silver sponsors
only get a nofollow link.
