I reckon that this is a good solution.
However, it would need emphasis in the "upgrading" doc and "changes", because
it would break linking if people were relying on the current format. Hopefully
they are using a "site.xml" navigation, making it easy to change.
By the way, in most of the xdocs that i write, i tend to use an explicit
sect...@id attribute in the source doc. Much better than relying on those
generated links, which can be very verbose depending on the "title". That also
helps to separate the concern of "linking", and protects against an author
tweaking the section title and hence breaking the links.
