Hi, folks. I'm a member of the board of directors, following up on some earlier conversations.
There was some mention, in recent board reports, that perhaps Forrest might move to the Attic - that is, retire as an Apache project (Read more about the attic at http://attic.apache.org ) I had encouraged the PMC (project management committee) to discuss this on this list - the dev list - in order to notify you, the users and developer community, that the project might be going away. This, we hope, might spur a few of you into action to keep the project alive, and rejuvenate the development of the project and community. However, I see that there has been no discussion, of any kind, on this lists, for several months. So, this is just trying to see if there's an active community out there anywhere, and possibly anybody that might step up and resume work on the project, or if you're all content to have the project slip into the sunset. --Rich, for the Board of Directors
