I'm not highly involved in this project but I thought I'd make a comment from my brief experience. Daniel to me seems to be a heavy duty lifter. I was surprised at how fast he got features and code committed. In addition I think he has a clear vision for the project and its roadmap. He is open to ideas and cares about the project and wants to build a community. To me this makes him a good candidate.
I am not the most active here so I apologize if my comments are out of place. Just my 2 cents.
