Greetings Apache Geode committers, I wanted to bring this up for discussion before filing a JIRA.
As part of the initial grant of Pivotal GemFire code to open source, Pivotal's training department released their introductory class materials, videos, and lab exercises. They are very usable and with some moderate maintenance can be made into high quality assets. Basically this is low hanging fruit for a contributor thats (mostly) non-coding. These currently reside in the ProjectGeode Github: https://github.com/project-geode/training The fixes need to be the following: 1. Change to Apache Geode template and branding 2. Change license and copyright notices to reflect proper Apache rules 3. Change mention of "GemFire" to "Apache Geode (incubating)" 4. Remove mention of proprietary features of GemFire that do not exist in Apache Geode The updates needed include new features such as those described in GEODE-8: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GEODE-8 The videos will need to be recreated with the fixed & updated materials. Is this something that somebody in the Apache Geode contributors community would like to take on? If so, I'll file the JIRA request. Otherwise, its likely that eventually Pivotal's user community will take this on - with an open source or creative commons license, of course. -- Greg Chase Director of Big Data Communities http://www.pivotal.io/big-data Pivotal Software http://www.pivotal.io/ 650-215-0477 @GregChase Blog: http://geekmarketing.biz/
