it was very hard to see, which I'm sure is why jsisson missed it and
filed the bug. Unfortunately it's not the only problem keeping us
from using maven 1.1

no, I'm subscribed to the maven dev list and saw the bug and response
go by there :-) I didn't even find it, a maven dev did.
