Here are some classes I used to use for sending email, before there was
JavaMail. I wouldn't go so far as to say this is a "robust solution", more of
a "minimum to meet needs" kind of thing -- and I'm not sure how portable it is
to modern/other mail servers. Still, may be useful to get started.
It's code I wrote and I'm happy to donate, for whatever purpose it might serve.
