Sachin Patel commented on GERONIMO-1355: ---------------------------------------- Yes I got the "hang as well", the following bugzilla has been opened. Since the download is 50+ megs, theres no progress status shown to the user and it appears that the workbench is hung. https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=120715 Also the UI layout is part of the generic server wizard framework, not in the geronimo plugin. I've already opened the following bugzilla for improvements to this panel... https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=120743 The other concern is that the current design is for the geronimo server to be repackaged inside a plugin. This needs to change. The update manager has support for installing data archives. Using a install handler pointing the data archive using a URL mapping we should be able to avoid repackaging the server and just point to the binary distro's of geronimo. > Geronimo Server Plug-in Needs User Documentation > ------------------------------------------------ > > Key: GERONIMO-1355 > URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GERONIMO-1355 > Project: Geronimo > Type: Bug > Components: eclipse-plugin > Versions: 1.0-M5 > Environment: Windows XP > Reporter: Arthur Ryman > > I was trying to install the server adapter in WTP 1.0 RC4 but didn't get very > far. I don't understand the expected behavior after download. What do I need > to configure. > In the "New Server Runtime" dialog there are two buttons. [Browse] and > [Install Server]. I believe the [Browse] button just want the location of the > Geronimo runtime, i.e. where I unzipped the download (I am trying to install > manually since the Update Manager approach failed). What does [Install > Server] do? It also prompts for a directory. What is that used for? I'd > appreciate some online Help. How about adding some Dynamic Help to explain > the buttons, or maybe a new article or tutorial. The old Tim Francis article > skips over the install details.
