I would like to contribute to this project. Please let me know what I can do to get involved.
Thanks,
Ash

The IONA contributions will be a full working version of
ORB and transport - the work will be on XML Schema <-> IDL
tooling and integration, which I believe there are guys that
can do that quickly from the Celtix base. IONA contributions
will be a full working set to start from. Once we have a vote I
will get the code out.
Hope that helps
Carl.

Here's a short note on our status.
I've uploaded our RMI/IIOP mapping to JIRA (GERONIMO-1539) as
contribution for the proposed geronimo/corba subproject. This is our
implementation of javax.rmi.CORBA.ValueHandler and friends. A prime
feature of this is that it has an efficient implementation of
Util.copyObjects, that we use for inter-ejb invocations to get copy
semantics for local invocations on remote interfaces (it avoids
copying java.lang.String, and immutable subclasses of java.lang.Number).
We are still working on the CORBA implementation, and we're currently
3 people on the project. Our current estimate on remaining work is
something like 1200 hours of effective work. With this perspecive,
we're looking forward to see IONAs contribution to see if we can cut
down that estimate somehow. Hopefully that will be the case.
Happy to hear that IONA is joining the project -- we can't wait to
get started on Yoko. Right now, with the proposal up in the air, and
details of IONAs contribution still missing, we're somewhat in a
limbo since we don't want to duplicate something we can get from
IONAs stuff. Also -- our lack of access to svn severely hurts our
performance, so we hope that the Yoko project can be underway soon.
Please everyone: let's get this project rolling asap.
Kresten
