I would like a clarification regarding this work. This patch
includes work that was already part of the old trunk. There were minor
modifications to accommodate 1.1. Should this code be reviewed again?

I think Dave has already answered this. You don't need to ask for
permission to commit the changes already in dead-1.2. Dave's looking
into it until I have finished setting up the new laptop with Geronimo
on it. I think things will go smoother with me aboard. Sorry for a
longer pause.
