G2692 was to fix the fact that specs/trunk would not build as it existed today. There was a long email discussion about tagging and releasing the specs, which I didn't contribute to as I'm not a committer....

I agree, that this whole specs directory layout and handling is a pain for any people/groups outside of the core Geronimo developers to follow.

If we are going to be using the specs/trunk as a some transient place for specs to live, then it should be completely removed, and each spec should get its own trunk/branches/tags and be treated like a normal project.

Moving stuff in and out of trunk on some ethereal whim is a horrible plan.
