Ted Kirby commented on GERONIMODEVTOOLS-511:
--------------------------------------------
That news item has a bad link. I recently updated the install doc. Tim, can
you update that news link, or tell me how to do it?
>From the Geronimo home page, choose the Development Tools sub-project link
>from the left-hand nav, near the bottom. That page gives pre-reqs and install
>instructions. I updated the installation page to point back to the pre-req
>section. I think I will change this again to put the pre-reqs on the install
>page, as my plan is to have this info together for each release.
I don't think you have to define a geronimo update site in order for "download
additional server adapters" to show Geronimo. I don't recall ever having to do
this. I verified it with a fresh install of Ganymede.
I will work to improve the doc. Tim also has some interest in this JIRA. He
may be distracted by upcoming vacation and GEP 2.1.3 release, but I expect to
see his comments here soon...
> Provide zip download of Geronimo Eclipse Plugin complete with requisites

> Components: eclipse-plugin
> Affects Versions: 2.1.2
> Reporter: Jürgen Weber
> Assignee: Tim McConnell
>
> Please provide a zip / tar.gz download of Geronimo Eclipse Plugin complete
> with all requisites, inclusive a stripped-down Eclipse itself.
> The zip should not contain eclipse as root folder but rather eclipseGeronimo
> to not overwrite the default Eclipse installation.
> The download options described in
> http://geronimo.apache.org/development-tools.html
> require that WTP and some more are installed. Installing WTP is error-prone,
> as it has lots of dependencies you need in the right version.
> Installing via Eclipse-Help-Software Updates does not work either as the
> Update manager is not smart enough to install requisites:
> Geronimo v1.0 Server Adapter (2.0.0) requires feature "org.eclipse.jst
> (2.0.0)", or compatible
> The given ant script does not work behind our firewall, and I am not keen on
> figuring out how the firewall options of ant work.
