It looks like this is the problem:

I wonder if the project is just too big to build at once on your machine? 512Mb RAM is rather small nowadays. 

You might try building the top level bits by themselves such as
testsupport
framework
plugins
plugingroups
assemblies
testsuite

I don't know if that would help or not :-(
