I cannot reproduce this problem on my ubuntu 64 box(-Xhealthcenter can enable,
not tried ISA workbench yet). However, it's reproduceable on my win 7, and this
problem is in G 2.1.x and 2.2.x as well.
For G 2.x, healthcenter could be enabled by copying all yoko impl jars and bcel
jar to geronimo_home/lib/endorsed, but for G 3, it does not work. Even G 2.x is
enabled with -Xhealthcenter, the ISA tool still cannot connect to the jvm to
collect data. So only the headless way works.
I tried the troubleshooting instruction from ibm health center infocenter:

But it does not work for G 3. Will investigate more for this issue on G 3...
