A few comments:
1) The latest released version of Karaf 2.2.x is 2.2.11. It would be preferable
to upgrade to the latest 2.2.x version unless of course this a huge hassle.
2) The eclipse project files are not under source control for the Geronimo
server project. The only project that I'm aware of that has them under source
control is the Geronimo Eclipse Plugin project. So, I don't think you need to
worry about this.
3) Make sure to double check that any shared third party dependencies between
Karaf and Geronimo are (more or less) on the same level. However, there are a
few old dependencies that we might keep as it (for example aries blueprint).
