I've seen this before with the way HBase is picky on /etc/host settings, even
on the miniCluster. I know this doesn't help specifically, but that's where to
look.
Also, make sure you are not binding any pseudo-distributed HBase instances to
that same host. That will freeze the tests until a timeout on regionserver
startup eventually occurs.
