Nitay Joffe commented on GIRAPH-101:
------------------------------------
I thought you were creating a separate project that Giraph would import as a
jar through Maven, similar to HiveIO? If it's a big deal you can put it all in
giraph-core for now and we can do that later. The important thing is to get rid
of munge so whatever is easiest for you let's get rid of it first and then we
can clean up packaging. The important thing is to make sure to get rid of all
of munge (there are places with it not only in giraph-core), and to make sure
all of the hadoop versions Giraph currently supports still work.
> Replace munge with shim layer similar to Pig and Hive

> Munge (http://sonatype.github.io/munge-maven-plugin/) is a hacky way of
> support multiple versions of Hadoop. The shim layers in Pig and Hive are a
> cleaner way to do this I think.
> Munge also forces us to release only in source, or to supply different
> binaries for different hadoop versions.
