Kevin Ratnasekera commented on GORA-532:
----------------------------------------

[~Sheriffo] Thank you very much for the interest in this project. There is a
mail thread [1] at dev@gora.apache.org initiated by [~kamaci] while ago
regarding this Benchmarking Module. Please try to reignite / make a discussion
on this thread once you go through these referenced papers.

Regarding the application process, please check the GSoC timeline from [1]
Application period starts from March 25 - ends on April 9. I strongly suggest
you to create a rough proposal with your ideas and post it in dev list for
community review, before submitting in GSoC system. That way we can improve
your proposal. I also suggest you to go through the source code, be familiar
with code base and fix some issues in the Jira.

If you need any help on anything, You can always always reach us by Apache Gora
dev list or personal emails.

> We should make a benchmark and publish it, and improved version of the
> Yahoo!’s Cloud Serving Benchmark (YCSB++) [1] is the most suitable tool for
> such a purpose. Here is a recent research about Object-NoSQL Database Mapper
> (ONDM) benchmark [2] which includes Apache Gora and they have produced the
> benchmark source code as ASF 2.0 licensed [3].
>
> Also, here is an example from Apache Accumulo which is based on YCSB [4].
