Hi Lewis, I think that we should upgrade it to Java 11 as soon as possible. Plenty of projects at Apache had upgraded the minimum required JDK version. I know that some folks follow LTS releases. The next LTS, Java 17, will be released four months later. So, it is time to support at least Java 11.
I can be a volunteer for the effort of upgrading to JDK 11.
