There has been a massive amount of work on Hibernate 7.4 and Groovy 5 ongoing. You can begin working on the Grails 8 upgrade now using 8.0.0-SNAPSHOT or wait a few days for 8.0.0-M2. I am upgrade a few of my apps with the snapshot now. https://grails.apache.org/docs/snapshot/ has 8 docs There will be another set of Grails 7.x.x releases this week which have the final updates from Spring boot and it is possible there will be 1-2 more after that, as several PRs are open. Timeline for the 8.0.0 GA is likely 4-6 weeks, if I were to guess. But as I have dove deep into Grails development over the last two years, you can easily start working from milestones and add snapshots on occasion to work on preparing for new versions.
