Cor,
it would help to know where we have the performance problems.
We need to know the platforms that are affected, which canvas and what
kind of graphics card (currently I think there are only known problems
with ATI).
On my windows system with an nvidia for example it works very smooth
with the
directx and with the vcl canvas.
How to detect which canvas is used:
Currently we have the vcl canvas on all system and optional the directx
canvas on
windows and the cairo canvas on some linux distributions. The vcl canvas
is used if there is no hardware
canvas available like directx canvas for windows and the cairo canvas
for other platforms.
Or you can select the vcl canvas by disabling "tools->options->view->use
hardware acceleration" and restart.
You will know you have the vcl canvas if your presentation does not
render shapes
antialiased (not text, which is also antialiased on vcl canvas).
Regards,
Christian

what is the platform you have problems with? Have you looked
at http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=85029 and
tried the workaround?
Thanks, didn't find that one.
However workaround doesn't seem to help much for me.
See if I can find someone else for more testing and if necessary comment.
