Hi, your proposed fix is a good solution. MetaFiles support comment actions that are already used to transport advanced features, even for the slideshow. You can grep in slideshow module to find out how to use them. But I would not advise to fix this now as the refactoring to primitives on the 3.x codebase will replace the usage of metafiles in the slideshow completly.
