Unordered remarks:

I imported the feed in my usual blog reader (Feedly) and it worked just
fine, with the summary.
Not sure about best practices. I often see Atom feeds, I believe, but I
don't pay too much attention.
I see blogs with summaries, and blogs with full content. I tend to prefer
full content, but I often click in my feed reader to read the articles in
their own websites rather than through the reader, so it doesn't matter
much to me ultimately if it's a summary or not.
If it's a summary, definitely no need to bother with images/thumbnails.

The tag cloud is fun, but honestly, I'm not sure it's that useful.

I don't think we need to unit test the snippets of code: something that was
valid in an old version of Groovy may not necessarily be valid still, so I
think it's okay if it's stuck in time.
