Bigtop does not support Windows so that decision for us was an easy one. We just wrote the gradlew shell script from scratch and licensed it as part of the project.

the problem is not the syntax or such for such a .bat script. The problem is programs such as sed and curl, which are normally not available on windows. Just look at for example http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4619088/windows-batch-file-file-download-from-a-url
