[gsl-dev] Configure OOo to use freetype, xft2 with rendering engine other than ICU.

Hi,

I have created an indic build of OOo 2.0 for mr-IN. I could see the suite localized in Marathi (mr-IN). But there are rendering problems with some indian scripts which I think is because of ICU that OOo uses for rendering. It is very well known bug in ICU.

Now I wants to bypass ICU and use freetype, xft2 with rendering engine other than ICU. Is it possible ? How can it be done?

If it not possible to bypass ICU then can I configure ICU itself to work collaboratively with other rendering engine? how?

Is there any other way of solving rendering problems instead of waiting ICU bug to be resolved?
