[gsl-dev] How I use GSL in my program?

Hey, everyone,
I am a newbie with OOo, and know few about GSL.
It seems that the GSL provides graphic output and GUI for OO.
does that mean the GSL is independent with OO as a basic library?
in other words, can I use GSL in my program without starting up OO?
and how can I do this if it is possible?
