Hi, @siacali has asked me to assist with this. After reviewing the changes and discussion here I agree with the approach suggested by @mike-jumper "Perhaps validateTicket() should return the CASAuthenticatedUser instance?". I've created a patch that does this and it is going through some testing. If all works as expected I will resubmit this, rebasing on top of the current master.
