As long as we continue merging bugfixes to the recently-adopted "patch" branch, we maintain the flexibility to cut a 1.5.6 patch release independently of ongoing plans for 1.6.0.

That makes sense. I will admit selfishly I am heavily anticipating some

I would agree, however shouldn’t the RDP mic fix be brought out sooner in a
patch release?

We could certainly do a 1.5.6 bug fix release and include that and anything
else that pops up in the coming days/weeks.

On the other hand, my concern is that we'll let 1.6.0 slip out even further
by trying to manage and release another bug fix version.

So, while I'm fine going with the bug fix release, I would like to make
sure we're focusing efforts on getting 1.6.0 pushed across the line.
