All, just FYI, The HDFS 2.0 compatibility issue has been solved by HAMA-742. Now you'll be able to run Hama on top of Hadoop 2.0 cluster. I've also added https://builds.apache.org/job/Hama-Nightly-for-Hadoop-2.x/
If you find any bugs, please add them to our issue tracker. Originally I wanted to implement our own default RPC implementation using Netty or something, but I've copied and pasted Hadoop RPC to solve the compatibility issue quickly.
