I'm going to be giving a short presentation (10 mins) at EclipseCon this year on Pack200. Mostly it will be about how the Eclipse update manager uses it, but I'm going to be talking a little bit about how Pack200 works as well as the fact that it's being done as part of the Harmony project; so I'll be plugging Harmony a bit as well.
http://eclipsezilla.eclipsecon.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3908 Harmony's also starting to pop up on the radar on other Eclipse/OSGi sites; Peter Kriens blogged about it recently, as well as Wayne Beaton (Eclipse Evangelist) http://www.osgi.org/blog/2007/01/can-someone-tell-steve-jobs-about-osgi.html http://wbeaton.blogspot.com/2007/01/harmony-and-eclipse-rcp.html http://wbeaton.blogspot.com/2006/11/apache-harmony-and-eclipse.html There's also a feature in Eclipse that allows you to export RCP applications along with a JRE, in order to have a full workable solution out of the box -- and Harmony is pretty well placed for that too! http://mea-bloga.blogspot.com/2006/11/little-things.html It's certainly making a lot of good noises at the moment. Unfortunately, I won't be able to demo Eclipse on Harmony (unless it gets ported to Mac OS X before March :-) but I'll certainly plug it during my short talk. And now that I'm back up to speed on the SVN layout, I'll be able to start making a bigger dent in the remaining coding, too :-) Alex.
