Student applications are now closed, thanks for all the mentors that
helped the students throughout building the project proposal with
constructive feedback and advices.
We are now entering our internal Pre-Selection phase (see [1] for
details), mentors please select the student proposal you are going to
mentor by clicking the button "I'm willing to mentor this student" and
give the proposal a "+4" score. At the end of this phase, I expect to
see a bunch of proposals with assigned mentors and a score of 4...
Note that currently I'm seeing student proposals with a score of 8, 6,
5, 4, 2, and 1 and some even has no mentor selected yet, I guess we
will need to review these proposals and make them all even with a 4
score and a selected mentor by end of phase 1. Note that per [1], only
mentors should be voting now.
As for the length of this Pre-Selection phase, how about we give it
till EOD Monday (6th) for mentors to select their proposal, them about
1 more day for the Selection Phase where mentors would give more
detailed ranking to the proposals ?
Please, let me know if you have questions/comments.

Subject: Applications Closed for Google Summer of Code 2009
To: Google Summer of Code Announce
<google-summer-of-code-annou...@googlegroups.com>
Hello everyone,
The student application period for Google Summer of Code 2009 closed
today at 19:00 UTC, so about 2.5 hours ago. Many thanks to everyone
who submitted an application. Student applicants should be watching
for comments on their proposals from potential mentors as well as
communicating with them via email, IRC, etc.
We will announce the list of accepted student proposals on the Google
Summer of Code 2009 site, http://socghop.appspot.com, on 20 April
2009.
For those who are wondering, we will not be extending the application
deadline this year nor will we accept any applications post-deadline.
Best,
LH
