We do handle NULL for int and bigint. based on your error message, it doesn't seem to be a NULL issue but more data type conversion issue.
Could you give us: 1. HAWQ version 2. external table definition of "gdm_m04_ord_det_sum" 3. If you can provide us some sample data to reproduce the issue, that'd be ideal.
