Ideally we'd have a suite of tests that you could run against hbase
subcomponents comparing performance at the below-macro scale. This is an issue
to make a list of components and existing tests to use:
+ CompactionTool is a standalone tool for running compactions
+ HLogPerformanceEvaluation can run lots of concurrent threads doing WAL appends
