True that is. Regarding building from the tag... Looks like it was just the jenkins machine hanging. I tried building from a tag on a local box and using "refs/tags/<tag>" for branch spec worked fine. Waiting for a slot on Apache jenkins to confirm that it is working there.

I build the RC bits locally, then run (distributed) unit tests, then copy them up to people.apache.org for further review by the community.
