So to conclude this, ending with '*' is ok. It is not a issue.

I don't see any problem when the prompt ends with ‘*’

The next command ‘list’ worked fine and it ended with correct prompt
‘hbase(main):016:0>’

Hi Ashish,

I tried; But it results with incorrect prompt;

Instead of ‘>’ I got ‘*’ in prompt; Is this the behaviour or issue in HBase
shell?

hbase(main):016:0> # comment
hbase(main):017:0* list
TABLE

FYI: I am using Windows OS;
