Try adding this into your /etc/hosts 127.0.0.1 java.sun.com
The problem is that we have this in the web.xml for datanode <web-app version="2.4" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee";> </web-app> When parsing the web.xml we will fetch from this url, and sometimes it will be very very slow.
