I spent a week going back and forth on HBASE-22301 only to have someone parachute in at the 11th hour and point out the trunk only commit HBASE-21806. This is super frustrating. I am now going to have to make them work together or just throw may hands up and walk away. I am sorely tempted.
I claim trunk only commits are a waste of everyone's time. We don't run trunk in production. We run branch-1 and branch-2 in production. Don't commit trunk only. Backport the changes to where they can be put to use.
