+1 (non-binding)
I checked:
- Signature: OK
- Checksum: OK
- LICENSE and NOTICE: In place
- Rat check (17.0.14): OK
- mvn clean apache-rat:check
- Build from source (17.0.14): OK
- mvn clean install -DskipTests -Dhadoop.profile=3.0
- JUnit tests: OK
- mvn test -P runAllTests -Dhadoop.profile=3.0
-Dsurefire.testFailureIgnore=true
-Dsurefire.rerunFailingTestsCount=5
- Tests run: 9,463, Failures: 0, Errors: 0, Skipped: 64, Flaky: 11
(passed on rerun)
- TestMemStoreLAB: OOM with default 2.2g surefire heap on Apple Silicon
(M-series).
Passes with -Dsurefire.Xmx=13g. Root cause: testLABChunkQueue uses a fixed
1-second time window with 10 threads allocating 256KB chunks in a tight
loop.
Off-pool chunk creation in ChunkCreator is unbounded. On fast hardware
(Apple Silicon),
~50,000 chunks get allocated in 1 second (~12.5GB), exceeding heap.
On slower x86 CI machines, fewer chunks are allocated and it fits in 2.2g.
Not a code defect — hardware-speed-dependent. Suggest JIRA to add an
iteration
cap (e.g., 5000 total allocations
across all threads / based on total heap) to make memory usage
deterministic regardless of CPU speed.
- TestCustomSaslAuthenticationProvider*: Requires Kerberos KDC,
environment-only.
- TestMergesSplitsAddToTracker: Intermittent timeout, flaky.
Started a mini cluster in standalone mode, succeeded.
Check logs and web pages, it looks good.
Ran these shell commands, looks fine.

Run IntegrationTestBigLinkedList, passed.

- 25,000,000 nodes generated, 0 bad references, 0 undefined nodes.
Thanks
