This is the first public release of Apache HttpAsyncClient. HttpAsyncClient is a library for asynchronous client-side HTTP communication built on top of HttpCore NIO and HttpClient components.
HttpAsyncClient is NOT meant to replace or supersede Apache HttpClient. It is a complementary library to Apache HttpClient intended for special cases where ability to handle a great number of concurrent connections is more important than performance in terms of a raw data throughput or for those users who prefer event-driven APIs. The HttpAsyncClient 4.0 API is still considered experimental and is expected to change in the course of the ALPHA development phase. This release is primarily intended for early adopters who may be interested in contributing to the project and in helping shape the new API. Please note that currently HttpAsyncClient DOES NOT support: * HTTP state management (cookies) * HTTP authentication * Stateful HTTP connections Missing functionality will be added in the next ALPHA release. ------------------- Download - <http://hc.apache.org/downloads.cgi> Release notes - <http://www.apache.org/dist/httpcomponents/httpasyncclient/RELEASE_NOTES.txt> HttpComponents site - <http://hc.apache.org/> ------------------- About Apache HttpAsyncClient Although the java.net package provides basic functionality for accessing resources via HTTP, it doesn't provide the full flexibility or functionality needed by many applications. HttpAsyncClient seeks to fill this void by providing an efficient, up-to-date, and feature-rich package with an event-driven programming interface based on a non-blocking I/O model.
