It does. In fact, per default HttpClient retains all cookies for the duration
of the HTTP session only unless cookies are carried over to another session
programmatically.
See RequestAddCookies protocol interceptor for details as to how expired are
handled. Expired cookies do not physically removed from the store. That is the
responsibility of the CookieStore implementation. They just never get passed
onto the CookieSpec.
