I agree that the spec isn't clear, but I also agree with Detlev that the code
do better.
If you feel that the current behavior is valid according to the RFC, and Detlev
disagrees, the obvious thing to do would be to ask the HTTP working group for
feedback. FWIW, this spec is revised *right now*.
