Oleg Kalnichevski commented on HTTPCLIENT-1664:
-----------------------------------------------
[~michael-o] There was no proper proposal or discussion on your part. You just
flat out refused to put work into this issue. There was an open discussion of
the matter of migration to Log4j2. I do admit though that I personally thought
we had agreed on a different plan of action but it is irrelevant now.
As far as [~garydgregory] is concerned the way he does things often drives me
up the wall but he has been consistently putting efforts into the project and
that counts a lot.
If you do want to do something constructive please feel free to run a poll on
either dev or users list and invite people to share their option on the matter
and to express their preferences, as I suggested from the very beginning.
Presenting your own option in a form of a coherent opening statement would not
hurt either. No one expects you to write a bloody "War and Peace" in 3 volumes
but putting together at least a few bullet points was not an unreasonable
suggestion (in my opinion).

> Commons Log is old and has several serious issue. HttpClient 5.0 should
> completely migrate away from it. SLF4J is an extremely wide support logging
> facade.
