This is called URI normalization

URI uri = URI.create("ftp://[email protected]//etc/motd";);
System.out.println(uri);
System.out.println(uri.normalize());
{code}
{noformat}
ftp://[email protected]//etc/motd
ftp://[email protected]/etc/motd
{noformat}
What we could do I suppose is adding a means of disabling URI normalization.
