Folks

I would like to start introducing some minor API visible changes to
HttpCore and HttpClient 5.x. As of now we really ought to be
conservative about changes that go into bug fix releases and make sure
that all non-trivial API and behavioral changes go through a proper
ALPHA/BETA/GA review cycle.

Can you tell what exactly you want to introduce?

I will keep `master` as our `5.0.x` stable branch for now and create
new `5.1.x` branch for new features. Before the first formal 5.1
release `5.1.x` branch would need to get merged into `master`.

Merging 5.1.x into a diverged master will likely produce conflicts and ugly merge commits.

Why not branch off 5.0.x and increment master...? That sounds cleaner to me.

This might also be the right moment to start a discussion about JRE
level upgrade.

This is fine by me for 5.x, but I expect the entire 5 line to stay at most on Java 8, Java 11 should be reserved for 6.x.

Pleas bump to 8 when we have shipped at least one or two bugfix releases on 5.0.x to get it further stabilized.

Michael
