This is really good. If no one beats me, I will dive into this in
November and will play around with it in a seperate deploy path
hopefully not breaking the current site.

Did you settle on AsciiDoc?
The approach would be input format agnostic, but I am in favor of
AsciiDoc over Markdown because there is a single spec compared to Markdown.
